We made it to New Zealand, safe and sound. The flight was only about 3 hours long and in the same time zone. The shuttle ride to our hostel, the Brown Kiwi, took almost 1.5 hours, but we got to see alot of the city of Auckland and its neighborhoods along the way. We are staying in a really cool bohemian part of town. We walked to a Turkish restaurant tonight and then an upscale bar where we could only afford one beer apiece ($24NZ for the tab which is about $19US). Tomorrow morning we meet with the manager to get his help in booking travel arrangements for the rest of our NZ trip, particularly with the car rental. If all goes well, we should be on the road by the afternoon to wherever our fancies lead us. Otherwise we will find some cool bars in Auckland.
