These are pictures from our recent journey to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in January 2007. Specifically Kelly visited over New Year's Eve while I was there conducting research on sabbatical leave. Here we are (with 2 million other partiers on Copacabana Beach) doing our best to bestow good luck upon ourselves for our upcoming nuptials. That included being clad in pure white, jumping over 7 incoming waves at midnight and giving flowers and thanks to the sea goddess for her nurture and bounty. Of course we enjoyed Ipanema beach while we could as well.-Alan
