ECON 104: Tourist Beerometer - The Season is Over

Ruby playing in the rain at a beach hut
This past week, I purchased some Turkish Efes beer at the convenient store outside our apartment. I noticed that the size has increased from the typical 50cl to 55cl (basically a tallboy plus) and that the price dropped from 5.5 to 5.0 Turkish lira (about $2.20). This essentially 20% decrease in price per unit cannot be a coincidence; demand must have shrunk. This is the final evidence that the tourist bus has left the station. The weather has changed considerably. We are receiving a lot more rain recently (enough sometimes that the kids have to get out of the apartment even in the middle of a shower). Life is about to change, although Brewer and I were still able to go swimming and wave-karate-chopping this morning (even in November). I personally look forward to another chapter in our adventure! - Alan
