On the Road Again

Well, after partying with the ProDive crew for a few hours after our boat returned to land, we picked up a new rental vehicle the next morning and headed out. By luck, we received a brand new vehicle, which we named 'Spiffy'. We headed inland to the Atherton Tablelands. We assume they are named that because we drove for a half-hour straight up switchbacks into mountainous terrain. Once we reached the top, it was totally flat for the entire day-long drive. When we headed back to the coastline today, we had a half-hour trip down through different swithbacks about 100km away. The mountains were beautiful and lush forest both ways. The Tablelands looked like what we expected for interior Australia, semi-desert-like and filled with huge termite mounds as far as we could see, plus more dead kangaroos on the side of the road than deer in rural KY. No wonder the insurance deductible on the car is double that for hitting a kangaroo than another car; it's a money maker.
